Those familiar with the novel Dune should be quite familiar with this character. Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, one of the, in my opinion, coolest villains ever devised. Why? Because the guy for once isn't just evil, but intelligent, skilled and dangerously persuasive...and makes a pretty good argument for his cause.
And so, here's the image of how I've seen him in my mind's eye when I've read the book. A little bit of the Lynch movie, a little bit of the old adventure game, sprinkled over my own design.

I read Dune again recently, and knowing all the shit that happened in the sequels, I feel more sympathetic and interested in Baron Harkonnen's plight. Plus he had all those boy slaves, so that automaticallty makes him cooler in my book. This is a fantastic caraciture of the man.

Antagonists are often times much more interesting because they don't have to be likable, sympathetic, or bound to morals like the heroes most times are.

Way Cool! Dune is easily one of my top ten favorite novels ("The Mote in God's Eye" holds the top spot). Your interpretation of the suspensors is superlative.

Definitely one of the coolest villains ever designed. Definitely one of the coolest artistic renditions of him. Raw, primal, pure evil.

Oooooohhhh........ An your right, The Baron was a great villain! Its sad, but Ive never seen any of the movies, even though I love the book series...
